Stopover Bands on NPR's First Listen!
There's a lot of new music coming from Stopover bands in the next few weeks before the festival. As part of that trend, NPR Music First Listen is featuring advances of two of the most anticipated of these releases from St. Paul and the Broken Bones, who will play our Opening Night Event on Thursday, March 6th at Moon River's Beer Garden (album out Feb. 18) and Hurray For the Riff Raff who will play Moon River on Saturday, March 8th (album out Feb. 11). Click the links below to listen to the full albums:
St. Paul and the Broken Bones first listen
"I've watched as St. Paul and the Broken Bones became one of the nation's best live bands. Every crowd is bigger; nearly every listener locks in and becomes a raving fan. Now, the group is releasing a debut album that's an ideal counterpart to those frenetic shows. Produced by Ben Tanner, keyboardist for the Alabama Shakes, Half the City is the album you put on after the night's done, to chill out, make out or cry into that last drink you pour in the kitchen. It's also the one you reach for the morning after, because you just have to memorize those grooves."-ANN POWERS, NPR
Hurray for the Riff Raff first listen
"Hurray for the Riff Raff makes folk music that's deeply traditional in many ways: Its instrumentation is collaborative and feels spontaneous and site-specific, perpetually more concerned with making a joyful noise than with making a radio-friendly pop song. But the band is also deeply radical, enacting change at the root of its own traditions and influences....
As a group, Hurray for the Riff Raff is, and has always been, proof that millennials are not lazy or unobservant or wandering — or, more accurately for the famously peripatetic Segarra, that not all who wander are lost. She has a voice rooted in history, making music to change the present. Hers is the voice of the future."-KATIE PRESLY, NPR
Savannah Stopover Adds Torres, Team Spirit and Velvet Caravan To 2014 Lineup
The Stopover team announced today that Nashville's Torres has been added to the 2014 Festival lineup, headlining City Coffee on Saturday, March 8th. The critically acclaimed singer song-writer has been compared to the likes of Cat Power and PJ Harvey. Her 2013 debut album garnered stellar reviews from Pitchfork, NME and many others. Also added is Brooklyn's Team Spirit fronted by Ayad Al Adhamy of Passion Pit fame. The foursome just released a Daytrotter session featuring two tracks from their forthcoming debut album on VICE Records/Warner Brothers. The band will bring the raucous brand of rock and roll to Hang Fire on Thursday, March 6th.

Savannah favorites Velvet Caravan, hot off of their new album release party on February 1st, have also been confirmed to play the festival. They'll kick things off at Moon River's outdoor venue on Saturday, March 8th. (bio coming soon)
These additions have triggered a few changes to the Stopover Schedule so make sure you check the sched for the latest and greatest.
A few other things to note: three bands have had to change their schedules around for March, forcing them to miss their Stopover dates. The UK's THUMPERS now has to fly straight into SXSW and Eternal Summers and GEMS had to re-route their plans. We hope to see them all at Stopover V in 2015!
J. Roddy Rocks Conan!
Check out the video below of J. Roddy Walston & The Business performing their song "Take It As It Comes" on Conan! The band will play Congress St. Social Club as part of Savannah Stopover Music Festival on March 6th.
Have a Listen to Ex Hex!
We're excited to have the first single from Mary Timony's (of Helium and Wild Flag) new band Ex Hex! The band releases their debut 7" on March 18th, and they'll be headlining Stopover's Saturday night Hang Fire lineup!
