Who doesn’t love a throwback?
For our end of summer monthly playlist, we went into the archives and pulled 50 of our favorite tracks from bands who have played the festival since its inception. That’s over 700 bands to choose from spanning 2011 through 2022. How did we cull it down to 50? Lots of hand wringing. We selected some from personal favorite memories , particularly from bands who were just starting out when they played the fest. The list is in chronological order. Who remembers Mac Demarco body surfing through The Jinx in 2013 or The War On Drugs surrounded by blooming azaleas in a museum garden in 2012? Or Rainbow Kitten Surprise blowing the roof off of a church in 2016? Ah, the memories. In almost every case, we selected tracks that the artist released the year they first played the fest or the song that made us fall in love with them.
